The Mountain Plains Minority Supplier Development Council (MPMSDC) today announced the nominees of its 2018 Business Diversity Awards to be presented at the MPMSDC Holiday Party in Denver, CO on December 7, 2018 at The Falls Event Center, 8199 Southpark Ct., Littleton, CO 80120. Presented annually, the awards recognize companies for their outstanding efforts in advancing purchasing opportunities for ethnic minority-owned businesses.

Xcel Energy, Denver Public Schools, Denver International Airport (DEN) and Molson Coors earned the nomination for the overall Corporation of the Year Award for their efforts to improve business diversity and inclusion. Each company has displayed key commitments to supplier diversity through partnering with the MPMSDC to identify diverse suppliers, increased spending with Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs), and outreach initiatives that streamline procurement processes and provide resources to help diverse suppliers compete for sourcing opportunities.

Supplier of the Year nominees 95.7 FM “The Boss”, A Clean Slate, Sky Blue Builders, Campos EPC and Gary Leimer were chosen based on how they distinguished themselves as leaders, problem solvers and communicators throughout projects and within their communities.

Wendy Moreno of Xcel Energy and Lynn Abrams of Hallmark have been nominated for the Advocate of the Year Award. This award recognizes an individual who has been instrumental in creating, leading or implementing minority business advocate activities within their organization or throughout the community and/or state. The award recipient is someone who has helped to increase minority businesses visibility with both corporate America or government entities.

World Wide Technology, Inc. has been nominated for the MBE to MBE award. The MBE to MBE Award recognizes outstanding minority business enterprises (MBEs) in our network for their commitment to the growth and development of other MBEs through meaningful contracting opportunities.

In addition to the awards being presented in person in Littleton on December 7, 2018, the event will be broadcasted on Facebook Live for members and MBEs in the MPMSDC region, which covers Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, and Western Missouri.
