The end of 2015 marked the close of the Mountain Plains Minority Supplier Development Council’s second year celebrating the newly established council and region. As we all know, transition can be hard and with this in mind, the Council’s holiday party theme for the 2015 Colorado Holiday party was “Thanks for Bearing with Us”. The Council took the opportunity to pay tribute to the members and constituents who help make this organization what it is today, while also collecting teddy bears to be delivered to Children’s Hospital in preparation for the holiday season.
The holiday party took place on Thursday, December 10th and was a smashing success! Faces new and old gathered at Zio’s to enjoy good food, great people and tasty beverages. The Council collected over 100 teddy bears and stuffed animals of all sizes and styles!
On Saturday, December 12th the bears were delivered by Council staff to Children’s Hospital Anschutz Medical Campus. Upon entering staff members were greeted with a ballet being performed for patients in the main foyer and a bustling environment buzzing in all directions.
As Council staff members made their way to the room where donations were being accepted, troops of young girls wheeled prepackaged goods down the hall using the trade mark red wagons scattered around the hospital campus. Following the young girls who obviously knew where they were going staff members weaved their way down a hallway packed with performers waiting in the wings, Girl Scout troops, local youth groups, etc. It was evident the holiday spirit was in the air. Surrounded by the truly remarkable environment that had emerged from a group effort of the people around you it was impossible not to smile. The Council was able to capture some photos with a few of the wonderful people they met that day.
The Council would like to thank all of our members and constituents for your continued support of the Council. A special thank you to those who helped to brighten the holidays for the kids at Children’s Hospital. We look forward to what 2016 will bring!
